Case Worker We are in dire need of case workers to handle the influx of cases we receive weekly. We are required to do a home visit before providing any financial assistance. Summer months are relatively heavy especially during hot summers, fall gets heavier as parents understandably spend on back to school expenses and rent and utilities lapse, and winter months are heavy due to the holidays. Spring and early summer is usually lighter.
Case Worker Assistant Often times, it is not safe for a case worker to call on a client by themselves and it would be most helpful to have someone along to provide support. If you do not want to take the lead on a case or if you want to learn more before you decide if you would like to become a case worker, this is the job for you.
Client Spiritual Provider Many of our clients are in poor health physically or mentally. You could provide a huge benefit to our society and brighten their life by simply making a few phone calls to these clients to check on them an let them know someone cares about them. Additionally, we would like someone to follow up with our clients after a case worker has completed each case. This follow up is usually done via mail.
Food Collection Many of our case workers work full time jobs and you could be of assistance if you are available to pull their food together during the day and place it in the office for them to pick up after work on their way to a home visit. You would receive a call from a case worker describing the client and would pull food based upon family size and any special needs. Additionally, volunteers are needed to check for donations in the SVdP box in the Church vestibule and move these items to the food pantry (food) or SVdP office (clothing).
Food Delivery Sometimes, we have a client who is only in need of food. Often times it is an emergency and they cannot wait for office hours. You would go to the food pantry, collect food based on the clients need and deliver it to the client. It is suggested that you do not deliver food alone.
Fundraiser Volunteers who are familiar with the mission of the SVdP Society are needed to head and assist in fundraising for the Society.
Furniture Delivery We have clients who have no bed in which to sleep, no table at which to eat. Often we are able to find donations of used furniture but the client has no way of retrieving the furniture other than paying an acquaintance. If you have a truck and are willing to deliver donations to our clients you would be a lifesaver.
Home Visit Translator If you speak Spanish and prefer not to take the lead on a case, you could provide a huge benefit by accompanying an experienced case worker and translating for them during a home visit.
Hot Line Translator Spanish speaking translators are needed to translate and clarify hot line calls.
Membership Trained volunteers are needed to assist in acquiring new members, welcoming them, explaining the mission of the society, and assessing their skills for placement in a volunteer position.
STA Parish Military Ministry Volunteer Volunteers are need to write cards and letters to members of the parish or family members of parishioners who are serving overseas. Additionally, we occasionally send out care packages and assistance is needed collecting items and packaging them for shipment.
Dallas Council Prison Ministry Volunteer Volunteers are needed to assist Margaret in the Prison Ministry. Duties are to be defined by Margaret.
Replenish Office Sack Lunches Sack lunches are prepared in advance and stored in the food pantry. Volunteers are needed to ensure that there are enough lunches moved to the office to cover office hours.
Replenish SVdP Office Food The office is open Monday, Tuesday, and Fridays from 9:00 to Noon. Margaret is in need of bags of food to hand out to clients, many of whom are homeless. Margaret will train on which foods are suitable. Volunteers would have to go to the food pantry, assemble bags of food, and deliver them to the SVdP office.
